PromasterDash has no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. It does not send your vehicle data, your location, or any other information off your device to us or to anyone else. The only data that ever leaves your phone is data you choose to export yourself.
What the app stores on your device
To do its job, the app records the following and keeps it in local storage on your phone (app settings storage and an on-device database):
- Vehicle data read from your OBD2 adapter, such as engine and transmission temperatures, RPM, speed, battery voltage, and diagnostic trouble codes.
- Location data used for trip tracking, including GPS coordinates, speed, heading, and elevation, recorded as trip waypoints while a trip is active.
- Trip records, including start and end times, distance, duration, and summary statistics.
- A maintenance log and service schedule that you enter.
- App settings and preferences.
- A local diagnostic debug log, which you can choose to share for troubleshooting.
All of this is stored only on your device. None of it is transmitted to us.
Location
The app uses your device's location, including in the background, so it can record speed, heading, elevation, and trip waypoints while you drive, even when the screen is off or the app is not in the foreground. Location is used only on your device for trip tracking and is never transmitted off the device by the app.
Bluetooth
The app uses Bluetooth solely to connect to your OBD2 adapter and read data from your vehicle. It does not use Bluetooth to determine your location and does not scan for or track other devices.
Data you choose to export
You can export a trip as a GPX file and share it through your device's standard share options (for example AirDrop, email, messaging, or a cloud drive). A GPX file contains the GPS coordinates of that trip. When you export and share a file, that data goes wherever you choose to send it, and that sharing is under your control, not ours.

When you tap to search a diagnostic trouble code, the app opens your device's web browser to a standard web search for that code. The search is handled by your browser, not by the app, and the app does not send any of your personal data as part of this.
What we do not do
- We do not collect or receive any of your data.
- We do not share or sell your data to anyone.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- We do not require an account or any sign-in.
Data retention and deletion
Because all data stays on your device, you are in control of it. The app keeps trip history for a period you set in Settings (365 days by default) and automatically removes older trips. You can delete data at any time within the app, and deleting the app from your device removes all of its stored data.
Children's privacy
PromasterDash is a vehicle utility app and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised effective date.
